Independence bunting, printed cotton

1987.7.3 1962 Printed cotton 8,230 × 300 mm

Printed on one side only, in three colours, on cotton light enough to lift in wind. Nine yards of it, in one length, with the string still threaded through the top hem.

It hung across Duke Street. The fold lines have been in the same places for sixty years, which is why it lives flat in a box and comes out for a table rather than a wall.
