A hand mould: shovel the mix in, tamp it, lift the box off, leave the block to cure on the ground. One man could make two hundred a day and the whole of Rockfort and half of St Andrew went up out of moulds like this.
The corners are square and the faces are still true, which is unusual. Most were used until they bowed.
